Cinderella (2016) – Blue Ball Gown
This dress was inspired by the stunning design by Academy Award Costume designer Sandy Powell for the Disney’s Live action film Cinderella. This is the magical dress that the Fairy Godmother creates for her to go to the ball.
It consists of a separate bodice, skirt and petticoat all hand crafted from patterns to sewing by me.
The bodice has 3 layers of silk satin, crushed iridescent organza and silk chiffon fully lined with silk organza. It has a Bertha collar adorned with hand made Organza butterflies. These are made of heat transfer vinyl in different colours placed on 5 different types of organza and embellished with rhinestones.
The skirt has 4 layers of fabric and it has been embellished with more than 800 crystal rhinestones.
The petticoat has 5 layers and more than 17 meters of ruffles at the hem on the different layers. It is made of poly chiffon in different tones of blues, lilac and iridescent organza.
This dress has been made for a 11.5″ doll (Barbie M.T.M) and 17″ Disney Store doll as a commission in two different colours: The original dress in Periwinkle and the Digitally Modified Blue seen in the Theatrical Release.
