Mary Poppins Returns (2018) – Royal Doulton Bowl Scene
Hand Painted dress inspired in the Royal Doulton Bowl Scene from the movie Mary Poppins Returns. After doing my research about this particular costume, the costume designer mentioned in one of her interviews that the original dress had been completely hand Painted, so I decided to follow the same path to recreate this dress as accurate as the original.
This costume is a Victorian promenade type dress inspired with a composed of an Open front Jacket fully lined with a flap collar. The skirt has a 2d design to imitate ruffles as seen on the original dress in the front and a layered train also hand painted, both made out of 100% cotton. The drape on the skirt is made of silk chiffon hand painted as well. There is a white bustle petticoat underneath and also a couple mesh gloveletes. The shoes and hat came originally with the doll but were also re-painted and the hair was fully re-styled. The doll face was repainted by artist Mira Mastura (Instagram: @mirushkaz).
