Wicked (2003) – Broadway Musical
This dress was inspired by the beautiful design of Costume designer Susan Hilferty for the Broadway production Wicked. This is the dress that the character Glinda wears.
It consists of a separate bodice, Collar, skirt and petticoat, all hand crafted from patterns to sewing by me.
The bodice has 17 pattern pieces cut into different fabrics like silk satin, Poly organza, iridescent organza and Swiss organdy. It has double layered puff sleeves adorned with tiny sequins in various colours. The bodice has hand embroidered sequins in various colours and sizes as well. It is fully lined and it has a hook closure at the center back.
The collar has a wire frame and organza and iridescent organza adorned with various colours of glass rhinestones. It also features straps on each side that are then attached to the bodice.
The skirt features 5 tiers of different size of petals made of organza and hand embroidered sequins following a design pattern with a center back closure.
The petticoat was made with 5 layers of fabric with lace details.
This dress was made for a Barbie doll as a commission.
